I really like the ominous music at the intro and exit of your episode! Thank you for sharing your own experiences of learning this history and how it can sometimes leave out parts of the narrative. I especially liked your focus on cotton within this history; both as a material product and its role in a global, capitalistic market economy. Material histories are becoming very popular, and this was a great attempt at that kind of approach! Thank you for sharing your thoughts and insights on the idea of a “cotton empire”; this would make an intriguing series!
